Daily Tarot Card: Queen of Swords

July 22nd, 2009 by taurusrising.net received No Comments »

Today’s drawing brings us The Queen of Swords.

As a court card, this either represents the querent or an aspect of the querent projected onto another person.

The Queen of Swords holds her sword high in the air and uses it to stab directly into the heart of the matter.  The suit of Swords represents Air.  With the Queen of Swords, I see a very vocal person.  This person is highly intelligent, enjoys mental stimulation.  She has a lot of ideas (represented by the clouds in the sky).  The Queen of Swords is swift with words.  Direct and to the point.  She is also the type of person that is brutally honest.

I’ve been reading more into the Queen of Swords’ meanings on other websites, and I’ve seen things such as a person that has come out of a transitional phase (represented by butterflies), such as a person that is recently divorced.  Somewhat bitter.  This person has a hardened heart and a need for honesty.

I’ve also seen this card as representing infertility.

Reversed: With the Queen of Swords reversed, the sword falls from her hand and she falls from her throne.  Her need to communicate is blocked, or she may be brutally brurally honest.  As with her upright counterpart, there may be some bitterness, but there’s also some coldness.  The Queen of Swords reversed is very guarded.  She may use sarcasm as one of defense mechanisms, as well as being snippy.  She uses words to hurt others.  I also see a lot of deceit in her personality.

The Queen of Swords reversed may also be interpretated as a person that is blocked- having problems communicating.
