Dreamy Wednesdays: Words of Wisdom and Masks

July 15th, 2009 by taurusrising.net received No Comments »

I have something to confess… My own dreams are getting way over my head!  I’ve found that as I write down the dreams in my journal, they become increasingly complex.  The great thing: I’m remembering all of the details, the vibrant colors, I’m noticing a lot of tiny things in the background… The bad thing?  It’s way over my head!  So in order to continue posting Dreamy Wednesdays,  I’m going to cut down on the dreams a little bit and focus on the major objects or themes.  I had a dream the other night and it seemed to have three different parts to it.  The amazing thing was that I happened to remember all of it.

For this dream, I’m going to focus on the one part that I’m really interested in.  My Grandpa appeared in it, he seemed to have a message, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying.  Here is part of my dream:

I went into a very dark room.  Grandpa was there. Wearing a blue silky shirt with a pocket on the front. He had a white hat on. He said something I couldn’t understand so I got my Aunt to translate. She came in the room and then Grandpa pointed out something I didn’t notice. He pointed there was a window and then behind him, the entire wall was a window.  Or windows. Outside was the ocean, right on the edge of the windows the waters were rough. There were a lot of boats in it. Then, I left the room and went into the living room.

Keywords and meanings from the online dream dictionary, Dream Moods.

  • room – parts of your personality
  • darkness – the unknown
  • Grandpa – a wise person
  • blue shirt – wisdom
  • pocket – secrets
  • windows – hope, possibilities, intuition, awareness
  • wall – barriers, boundaries, obstacles
  • ocean – state of emotions and feelings
  • boats – ability to cope with emotions
  • living room – the way you portray yourself to others, mask

Interpretation

There are parts of your personality that you keep hidden away.  Your Grandpa, a wise person, appears in your dream sharing his wisdom and secrets.  When you entered the room, you noticed the darkness, however your Grandpa pointed out all of the windows in the room.  The windows stand for things such as hope, possibilities, and awareness.  However, for some reason, there are obstacles blocking you from utilizing your awareness.  Outside the windows, the ocean, representing your emotions, show that the waves are rough.   Despite the rough waves and unstable emotions, the boats continue sailing.  As you leave the room, you tuck this aspect of your personality away in the dark parts of your mind.  You walk into the living room,  wearing a mask, displaying the part of you that you use to portray yourself to others.
