It has been a while since I blogged about dreams. Today, I am getting on the ball and will be discussing a common theme in dreams: Airports Dreams.

Airport dreams have always been my favorite theme. I tend to get them during “transitional phase” in my life. This theme usually indicates hopes and dreams or “taking off” with a new idea. I’m always excited to see them – it gives me the reassurance that my new project is headed in the right direction.

Here is an example of one of my dreams from a few weeks ago:

I was in my house packing my bags. There were two or three other people with me, but I couldn’t make out who they were. I was packing up my stuff, but for some reason I wasn’t taking the bags with me. I said, “So you mean that once we leave, this means that we can’t come back?” No one answered me, but I remember looking out of the front door. It lead to an airport terminal.

Airport Dreams - flying off in a new direction

The week when I had this dream, I was undergoing a process of “decluttering” my life. In other words, getting rid of old baggage, weeding out the negative people and influences in my life, letting go of ideas and habits that weren’t working for me. This is referenced in the dream by me – packing my bags. My dream also showed my insecurity about the situation. I realized that once I let go of these things, they would be out of my life. However, the dream ends on a happy note – I am glancing out of a front door (symbolizing a door to new opportunities) and into an airport terminal, a place where you can “fly off” into a new direction.

If you see an airport in your dream, it is usually a good indicator that you are transitioning with a project or moving into a new chapter in life.

I’ve had some computer issues today, so I had problems hopping on and writing a Dreamy Wednesday post.

Ever since I decided to use a dream journal again, I’ve been able to remember and write down every dream. It’s interesting to look at my journal, because I have around three weeks worth of dreams. Sometimes, I find myself reluctant to go in depth and actually interpret them, because I can look at dreams and figure out the basic meaning. Sometimes it’s things that I don’t want to read about or “hear”. It’s really amazing how the symbols in dreams can tell you about what’s going on in your waking life. I find it to be really fascinating.

As with A Dreams-Teller, I’ve been working on giving free interpretations. It helps me practice something that I’m really interested in, and then it also helps the dreamer find some meaning to their sleeping world.

If you’re interested in a free dream interpretation or free dream analysis, leave a comment on this post, or contact me on Twitter. Additionally, you can contact me through the contact form on this website. The more details, the better… although, I can work with whatever you have or remember. I will admit, that there may be a few days for the turnaround time. It really depends on what I have scheduled or how many dreams I have queued up. This is all for my personal practice and all that I request from you is your feedback. Afterall, I need to know what I need to clarify or work on. :)

It’s Dreamy Wednesday! So here’s another dream of mine that I will share and interpret.

Here is my dream for this week:

I was on a bus going back somewhere. I didn’t know which bus to hop on and then I saw my Aunt on the bus and hopped on, I was relieved to see her. The busses reminded me of the ones at Disney World. Then we were driving around and then three people were with me. And I realized that the bus had stopped. We were on the road, and parked next to the bushes. We hopped off of the bus went across the street into what seemed to be a warehouse. The sky was dark and gray. We went inside… I don’t remember a lot of what was going on… then we were leaving and there was a room that reminded me of the airport waiting rooms between the terminals and the walkways. I looked in the mirror and noticed that one of my contacts had broken. I told whoever about it and they said, “ok, we’ll work on that when we get back”. That’s when we got into the car. It was dark outside. The street lights were bright. I was in the passenger’s seat, there was a male energy driving the car. I think we were waiting for the others to hop in the car. I kept closing the door, but it wouldn’t stay shut. I tried to see what was wrong with it, why the door wouldn’t stay closed. There was no reason for it. The lock was even up, I thought that it would hold the door together to keep it closed. But it wouldn’t. I had to hold the door closed. Then, we left… I remember we drove through an area where a famous singer born/died. There were flags everywhere and whoever I was with, said that he didn’t realize that this famous person grew up in such a patriotic town. Reminded me of the area outside of the stadium in Florida. Then I saw a bunch of old apartment buildings lined up next to a huge body of water. I saw a helicopter. It was following a group of guys that they thought were famous. The guys were hiding though, didn’t want to be seen. So the helicopter flew away somewhere else.

The dream starts off with you taking a bus somewhere. You don’t know which to get on, but you recognize your Aunt (somebody that is familiar), and decide to hop on that bus. This means that you aren’t taking any control of your life, you’re not sure where you want to go, so you’re taking the path that is most familiar. Sitting in the bus, three people join you. Threes in dreams can represent many things, including the past, present, and future. This could mean that all of these aspects of yourself are traveling with you on your journey. All of a sudden, the bus is parked on the street next to the bushes. This might indicate that you’ve been snooping in places you shouldn’t be and since then, you’ve been keeping a secret about it or haven’t been entirely open about it. With the bus parked on the street, it may indicate that you are having some temporary setbacks in your current life path. This temporary setback is reinforced by stopping in at a warehouse – a place with hidden resources, possibly past memories.

But before you walked in, you noticed that the sky was dark and gray. This indicates some sadness and possibly trouble. An alternative way to look at this is, visiting your past can bring some trouble to your current life or the memories will bring back some sadness. As you were leaving, you stopped in a waiting room, which indicates that even though you are going through a chaotic period in your life, you are being patient. Looking into the mirror, you noticed that one of your contact lenses was broken. This could imply that you are having difficulties paying attention to what you should be doing or what you know you should be doing and/or you think that the world sees you in that perspective. But whoever you were with said that it wasn’t important.

You went back outside to the car, your mode of control in your life. You noticed that the skies turned into darkness, foreboding failure or setbacks, yet the streetlights shone brightly, indicating that you need to move to a higher level of awareness. You got into the car into the passenger’s seat, indicating that you are taking passive control of your life. You noted that a male energy was driving the car, which could mean that a male influence in your life, or somebody with masculine energy, is directing or driving your life. You tried to close the car door, but it wouldn’t shut which could indicate that you are trying to close yourself off from somebody, possibly feelings. However, you are having problems keeping that door closed and locked, which may mean that you are having problems closing yourself off- possibly detaching yourself emotionally, then quickly reattaching yourself when needed.

Once you were on the road, you took a street back to your past. You remembered that a celebrity lived and died there, which may mean that your dreams began and ended around this place or alternatively, you had some desires for some recognition for your accomplishments. It may also indicate that you admired this person for never leaving their roots.

Later, you saw a bunch of old apartment buildings lined next to a body of water. In dreams, buildings represent the self and body. You may think of yourself as an old person or an old soul. The dirty water represents wallowing in negative emotions, so overall, it may mean that you are letting yourself soak in negative emotions. Or all that you can see is the negativity surrounding you.

A helicopter was flying around, indicating your pursuit of a goal. It was chasing celebrities, so literally, this could indicate that you are trying to chase fame. However, the celebrities were hiding from the helicopter, which may mean that you are afraid of standing in the spotlight or the need for some sense of protection.

Overall:

It seems that you have lost your direction or life path. When you had to make a decision, you ended up taking the one that was the most familiar to you. The dream indiciated that you may also be poking around in places you shouldn’t be and then not being entirely honest about it!

You went by a warehouse, which is usually a symbol in dreams for stored memories. It was a stop on your path, which may mean that you are distracted by your past, therefore aren’t paying any attention to what you know you should be doing.

As you are in the car, again it indicates that you are taking passive control of your life. Your life decisions are being influenced by male energy. You also seem to be trying to close yourself off from something, but you are having difficulties keeping that door shut and locked.

Later, you saw the helicopter, which implies the pursuit of a goal. You may be trying to chase fame, but at the same time, you are afraid of standing in the spotlight.

—

I had a few problems trying to analyze symbols… for instance, the one about the flags. I wasn’t sure how to write that into my interpretation. As always, I welcome and appreciate any feedback!

I have something to confess… My own dreams are getting way over my head! I’ve found that as I write down the dreams in my journal, they become increasingly complex. The great thing: I’m remembering all of the details, the vibrant colors, I’m noticing a lot of tiny things in the background… The bad thing? It’s way over my head! So in order to continue posting Dreamy Wednesdays, I’m going to cut down on the dreams a little bit and focus on the major objects or themes. I had a dream the other night and it seemed to have three different parts to it. The amazing thing was that I happened to remember all of it.

For this dream, I’m going to focus on the one part that I’m really interested in. My Grandpa appeared in it, he seemed to have a message, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying. Here is part of my dream:

I went into a very dark room. Grandpa was there. Wearing a blue silky shirt with a pocket on the front. He had a white hat on. He said something I couldn’t understand so I got my Aunt to translate. She came in the room and then Grandpa pointed out something I didn’t notice. He pointed there was a window and then behind him, the entire wall was a window. Or windows. Outside was the ocean, right on the edge of the windows the waters were rough. There were a lot of boats in it. Then, I left the room and went into the living room.

Keywords and meanings from the online dream dictionary, Dream Moods.

room – parts of your personality

darkness – the unknown

Grandpa – a wise person

blue shirt – wisdom

pocket – secrets

windows – hope, possibilities, intuition, awareness

wall – barriers, boundaries, obstacles

ocean – state of emotions and feelings

boats – ability to cope with emotions

living room – the way you portray yourself to others, mask

Interpretation

There are parts of your personality that you keep hidden away. Your Grandpa, a wise person, appears in your dream sharing his wisdom and secrets. When you entered the room, you noticed the darkness, however your Grandpa pointed out all of the windows in the room. The windows stand for things such as hope, possibilities, and awareness. However, for some reason, there are obstacles blocking you from utilizing your awareness. Outside the windows, the ocean, representing your emotions, show that the waves are rough. Despite the rough waves and unstable emotions, the boats continue sailing. As you leave the room, you tuck this aspect of your personality away in the dark parts of your mind. You walk into the living room, wearing a mask, displaying the part of you that you use to portray yourself to others.

Happy Dreamy Wednesday!!

I was really pleased with the additional interpretations about last week’s dream, “Leaving the Arena” from A Dreams-Teller (their interpretation can be found on their website in the comments of “A Bad Dream“) and Marcia. We each had different dreams interpretations, but they overall seemed to have the same basic meaning: conflicts and searching the past or layers of the subconscious to resolve the problem. Very interesting stuff!

This week’s dream, “Hiding on a Ship”, is from two weeks ago. I wrote about it the day after I had the dream, but as I went to submit, I got an error message and lost everything. I usually save things before I submit- but this happened to be a rare occasion when I did not. Let this be a lesson to everyone, before you submit something (especially if it’s a LONG post!)- make sure you save it before you hit that button!

We were on a boat, on a tiny, winding stream. It was scary, there were guards/soldiers everywhere. Then all of a sudden, I was on a ship, hiding from someone. The atmosphere was crazy. Somebody was with me, not sure who. I couldn’t see them and I couldn’t see their face. It was more like a shadow. We went into a hidden room.. Something was going on and everybody was going to die if they got caught. The hidden room had a bubble-type glass ceiling area. We crawled up there and we were able to see everyone walking by. However, they couldn’t see us because we were up so high. There was a boy on the other side of the glass, it was Ralphie from A Christmas Story. He was trying to get in the room, so we told him how to sneak in… I think there were a lot of deaths in my dream. I didn’t want to die, so we ran.. I don’t know who was with me.

Keywords and meanings from DreamMoods and Meaning of Dreams dictionaries:

boat – how you cope with emotions, ability to cope with emotions

stream(river) – could be flow of life, directions

guards/soldiers – on guard, protecting something?

ship – emotional state – depends on how you were feeling on the ship

hiding – hiding something, withholding information, feeling guilty – could also be needing security and protection

shadow – a part of yourself that you keep hidden or rejected or something that you have not yet incorporated into your personality

hidden room – rooms like houses, represent different aspects of your personality

glass ceiling – mental or spiritual perspective, limits you have on yourself, emotional barrier

boy – a boy that is significant and important to you

die/deaths – inner changes – afraid of change., transformations,

Interpretation

You are moving forward in life, sailing (boat) along. The flow of life is winding (stream) there are some obstacles. There are some guards giving you trouble, but you’re still able to move past it. Then all of a sudden, you’re on a ship! The ship represents your emotional state, which is unstable. Something has changed in your life, to uproot you from smooth sailing, to emotional chaos. Along on your travels, is your shadow self. This may be a part of you that you may have repressed or have not recognized as part of your personality. You ventured into a room, which can also represent different aspects of your personality. Since this room was hidden, it may be a part of your personality that you hide from everybody. Inside this hidden room, is a glass ceiling. Ceilings represent mental or spiritual limitations that you have on yourself. Glass can represent emotional barriers. You mentioned that there was a boy trying to get into this room. That could mean that the boy is trying to get you to uncover a part of your personality that you keep hidden from everyone else. You also mentioned being afraid to die. Death can be interpreted as a change in life, transformation, opening up to new adventures. Being afraid of death could mean that you are afraid of change, you’re afraid to let go of old habits.

—

I welcome any feedback or interpretations that you may have on this dream! Please share them in the comments. :)

Welcome to a new section at Taurus Rising! This section is called Dreamy Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, we’ll discuss different aspects of dreams, dream analysis and interpretations, and resources for interpreting dreams.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really into dream interpretation. Dreams can be pretty outrageous, but why? Dreams have a lot of symbols and when decoded, dreams can carry some pretty important messages.

I’m considering interpreting dreams for others on this site, but in the meantime – I heartily recommend A Dreams-Teller’s dream interpretation site.

For now, I’m trying to piece together my dreams. I woke up at 2:30AM this morning after having another crazy dream. I am glad I keep a dream journal, I spent around ten minutes writing five pages about this dream. I haven’t looked back on it yet, although I can sort of understand the message. Until I post that one, here is a dream from the other night:

I was leaving a game at the arena. There was a lot of construction. I wanted to get to the other side of the road, almost got hit by a car, so I had to wait for the cars to go by. Once I was able to get across, I walked into the parking lot of a fast food place and decided that I would walk through the drive-thru. I ordered a salad with a dinner roll. Then drive thru turned into my old house. I was standing outside my parents bathroom and whoever was with me, asked me how to get to the arena… Then all of a sudden, I was walking into the house we lived in before the old house. It was very dark and reminded me of a level in a parking garage.I saw soldiers stationed in the room. I found out that two famous football players were soldiers and were driving around the war zone drunk and got killed. Then the dream started over.

Keywords and meanings from the DreamMoods dictionary:

Arena – an environment where you can freely express yourself or an issue that needs to be brought to light

Construction – rebuilding life, new surge of energy and growth

Roadblock? – obstacles

Almost hit by cars – goals are in conflict with others

Parking Lot – need to slow down and relax

Restaurant – overwhelmed with choices, need emotional support

Drive-thru – ???

Salad – desire to express feelings and positive influences, need for nature and good health

Dinner roll/bread – basic needs in life, positive things learned in life

Old homes – old beliefs, ways that you used to think

Bathroom – burdened, the need to “relieve yourself”. The need to cleanse yourself emotionally and psychologically

Directions – search for purpose, path to self-realization

Darkness – ignorance

Parking garage – inactivity, idleness, feeling as if you’re going in no direction

Soliders – defending beliefs and values

War zone – internal conflict, struggle that is tearing you apart inside

Football players – ???

Drunk – losing control of life, somebody or a relationship is dominating you

Death/Killed – killing off old parts of yourself, old habits

Interpretation

There are many symbols in this dream that indicate the need for self-expression, moving forward from the past and old habits, learning from the past, a search for purpose and internal conflicts.

You are struggling internally with beliefs (war zone) or are struggling with a relationship (roadblock, drunk). You have the need for some form of self-expression (arena, salad) and a desire for a sense of purpose (directions) , but you are having problems achieving this due to being burdened and bogged down by past issues. You may have problems due to your goals conflicting with others (almost hit by cars). Although you are defending your beliefs and values (soldiers), these issues are wearing you mentally and physically. You could also be denying (ignorance) that there are any problems at all, thus leading the internal conflict. You need to realize that the issue needs to be dealt with (arena?). You need to release yourself from these burdens (bathroom) and old habits (death) in order to move forward. Since the dream started over, it may indicate that you are stuck in a cycle or repeating the same mistakes. Reflect on the positive things you have learned in life (dinner roll/bread), your past beliefs (old homes) and let these lessons show you how to move forward and express yourself.

—

There were other symbols in the dream that I was stuck on interpreting. As always, I welcome any of your thoughts or feedback on this dream analysis!

I had some fun with this. It’s a little difficult when interpreting your own dreams (as interpreting your own readings in Tarot), because it’s hard not to be biased. I’m going to write my interpretation in third person.

Here is what I wrote in my dream journal:

I went back to high school, but it was actually the place where I went to college. The school was being remodeled and there was a lot of construction outside. I had to retake the final exams. I’m not sure why and I kept thinking, “I already graduated from high school, why do I need to take finals again?” I also kept thinking about how it was eight years after my high school graduation. One of my friends, Brandi, was there. There were two teachers in the room, they said that we had to either raise our hands or stand up to get our final exams. I was getting antsy because I went through my notebook and couldn’t find a blank sheet of paper. Later, I went to find my car… I found out that I had four cars and each were in different shades of green.

I used to have a dream dictionary book, but I have no idea where it is anymore. So after searching around for a bit, I decided to look up some of the symbols from the Dream Moods Dream Dictionary website. There are a few interpretations for each symbol, so I chose the one(s) that I felt best represented my current situation.

school: going through a spiritual learning experience

college: desire to expand knowledge and awareness; good time to try new things; stress

construction: need to better myself

(final) exam: fear of not meeting expectations? insecurities?

eight: possibly insignificant, but the number eight symbolizes success and karma

friend (Brandi): “Consider the relationship you had with this friend and the lessons that were learned.” Brandi was one of my best friends in high school. We were close, but the one thing that kind of held us back was that she was a very religious (spiritual) person and I was the opposite.

teachers: seeking advice and guidance; learning by example

notebook: This one had the most interesting interpretation. It says that it represents the things that I have to stay on top of. Overlooked emotions? and to “consider the contents”.

blank sheet of paper: desire to make a fresh start in life- need to express through art or writing. In my dream I couldn’t find a blank sheet, this could be interpreted as “overwhelming responsibilities and stress”.

parked car(s): need to move efforts somewhere else, wasting time on a fruitless project

four: stability, getting things done, “Earthly”… this makes me think of Taurus in astrology :)

green: positive change, independence, healing

An Interpretation:
You’ve been wanting or feeling the need to better yourself spiritually, but there is some hesitation. You have a fear about venturing into this area and not meeting somebody (or your) expectations.

Considering your friendship with Brandi, you noted that she was/is a very spiritual person. What can be learned from her or your friendship with her?

The teachers in the dream can be interpreted as learning by example. Perhaps finding a mentor or somebody more spiritually sound to seek advice from.

The notebook represents responsibilities. You want to move into a new direction in life (spirituality), but you feel as if there is no time for it or you are too overwhelmed with the current things in your life right now (not being able to find a blank sheet of paper).

The parked cars may mean to focus your energy on other projects. Perhaps you are putting a lot of effort into something that isn’t producing results.

***

My Thoughts:
I’ve been wanting to become a more spiritual person. I think that meditation could help, but I’ve been a little hesitant because the thought of sitting still for a long period of time and “quieting my mind” scares me. It makes me really anxious, in fact. I am afraid of some kind of failure, not sure. I’m not sure what failure would mean for me or anybody else, for that matter.

I’ve always thought of Brandi as a happy person. She’s also been very in touch with spirituality. Brandi and I do have different beliefs. But I think the thing to be read here is that she was always very happy and secure with her spiritual beliefs. Maybe that’s something that I need to consider?

The notebook + cars thing makes sense to me. I am under an incredible amount of stress (mainly due to finances!), so I’ve been focusing a lot of my energy onto that while spiritually takes a back seat.

The only things that I’m really having problems interpreting are the numbers and the colors in the dream. What is their significance?

***

Lastly, I am open to any comments or thoughts. If you can interpret my dream in another way, I’m all ears and interested in your feedback!

A few years ago, I kept a dream journal. I would wake up and immediately write in my journal. Sometimes I would even draw little pictures or things that I could remember. I’m not sure why I stopped writing. I used to do fairly well at analyzing them.

Last week, I decided to start a new dream journal. It’s just a sketchbook. I don’t like journals with lines in them — it makes me feel confined. ;) I painted the cover with dark blues and little yellow stars all over them. Simple, but I love it!

Last night, I had a Tarot dream. I was in a dark room and all I could see was a table with cards on them. Somebody was trying to teach me about the cards… unfortunately, my little one woke me up, so I wasn’t able to get the complete message in the dream. One particular thing that I do remember seeing was that the Tarot cards were lined up next to a regular deck of playing cards– all in the suit of clubs. I don’t remember any of the Tarot cards.

After doing a little bit of research online, I found that the suit of clubs is represented by the wands in Tarot. I was happy to discover that the wands represent fire, ideas, creativity and careers. If I’m reading it correctly, it’s affirming the direction that I’m wanting to go with my life… :)

Do you keep a dream journal? Have you ever tried analyzing dreams?
