A brief update.

September 17th, 2009 by taurusrising.net received 3 Comments »

Hi, loyal Taurus Rising followers!

Here’s a brief update – I apologize for the lack of updates.  I’ve been unexpectedly caught up in some other projects.  Unfortunately, these things have been consuming a lot of time and energy.  After things have calmed down, I will be back, posting, and in action this weekend!

And to make this a bit interactive… how has the Uranus/Saturn opposition been affecting you?

Daily Tarot Card: 7 of Swords

Today’s drawing brings us the 7 of Swords.

In the image of the Rider Waite deck, we see a young man sneaking away with swords in tow.  He’s a sly character.  While others in the background are learning about things in the “ethical” or the “conventional” way, this guy is doing it the “other way”.  It’s not the honest way, but this guy is getting away with it.  He has the upper hand.

This card also suggests the desire to work alone.

When this card is seen in a reading, it often indicates deception, stealing, cheating, or running away from commitments or responsibilities.  This card can be telling you to be honest in what you’re doing.

Reversed: With the 7 of Swords reversed, this person has clumsily dropped the swords.  The fall of the swords create loud clanging noises, causing everyone around to check out the commotion.  In other words, this person has been caught in the act.

This also indicates not planning ahead and not being smart about your actions.  It could also mean that whatever was stolen, will be returned.  Expect the unexpected.  If you have knowingly done something wrong, then you’re not going to get away with it.

Let’s talk about Mercury Retrograde!

Mercury Retrograde - it can be bad!

Mercury Retrograde - it can do some nasty things!

Mercury Retrograde.  Oh yes.  It’s here and it’s going to be here until September 29, 2009.  Can you feel it?  I’ve heard so many people grumbling and mumbling about the Mercury Retrograde.  It’s the time when we expect things to break, things to fail, or delays in general.  But, I mean, we were all expecting him to show up unexpectedly for dinner, right?

Of course, I’m probably testing Mr. Mercury just by writing this post.  This week, so many things have gone wrong or “unexpected” – that I can’t help but laugh to myself.  Electronic things going haywire?  Mental fogginess?  Yes, these are a few influences during a Mercury Retrograde.  Also with this retrograde being in Libra, a few people from my past have came by to grace me with their presence.  Not necessarily bad things – just time to revisit old relationships and if needed, work on their “unfinished business”.

So far with this Mercury Retrograde…

  • My DH’s job “lost” his paycheck.
  • Forgot to pay rent for this month.  This is crazy because I’m pretty insane when it comes to paying bills.
  • My camera stopped working.  I went somewhere and wanted to snap some photos, but my camera stopped working.  It’s a digital camera and the display wasn’t showing anything. After I left this place, I decided to fiddle around with the camera but alas, it was mysteriously working again.
  • Message board woes!  I posted on a message board by e-mail, however when it posted- it was showing up as post from a text message… from somebody else!  The funny part was that this person didn’t even have a cell phone.  I had to change some settings on my profile, then it was posting like normal.  It was probably some silly error on my part, but funny nonetheless.
  • This guy from my past reappeared right after Mercury went retrograde.  Mainly, he wanted to tell me that his wife had left him and he wished he pursued me instead of her… errr, what?
  • Another guy that I hadn’t talked to in a while… he messaged me to just “say hi”, but I knew that it was more than that.  How often do you get people that haven’t talked to you in years or months, messaging you to just say hi?  Ahh, I don’t that often… but it turns out that he was having problems with his woman and needed advice.
  • On another Libra/relationship note, there was some family drama.  It really upset me, but I was able to calm down my Scorpio stellium (including my wonderful, Mars in Scorpio).  Around this time, you really have to realize that this retrograde may influence some more than others.  This means that people will blurt out things- sometimes hurtful- (clouded Mercury communication!) without thinking.
  • Cell phone problems.  The signal has been on and off.
  • My Internet connection has been flaky, as well.

Of course, these things could happen any other during the year… they just happen to fall on the Mercury Retrograde.  So, whenever something happens, I can’t help but laugh.

Mercury Retrograde is also great for creativity!

Mercury Retrograde is also great for creativity!

On the positive side, this is what the Mercury Retrograde has helped me with…

  • It’s given me time to reflect on things.  I’ve been able to slow down and take a look around at everything going on.  It’s helping me understand what’s working and what isn’t working for me.
  • I’ve had time to do some cleaning – and not just house cleaning (if you follow my Twitter account, you know what I mean!), but thinking about the people that I surround myself with.  Along with the reflection, I’ve felt the need for a “spiritual cleansing”. This has helped me weed out negative people/influences in my life.  This is something that I’ve needed to do for a while.
  • I’ve also felt a wonderful wave of creativity.  Although I have slowed down on some things, I feel like my creativity is in high gear.  I love it!

Now, my question to you is: What has Mercury Retrograde done for you so far? Please post your answers in the comments.  I’m interested in seeing what everyone else is going through.

Daily Tarot Card: 9 of Cups

Today’s drawing brings us the 9 of Cups.

I see a two ways to interpret this card.

As a Cups card, this is tied to the element of Water.  Water represents emotions.  In this image from the Rider Waite Deck, we see a man sitting in front of nine cups.  His arms are crossed.  The cups appear to be on display on a decorated shelf or a stage.

My first interpretation – is very optimistic. I see a person proudly displaying all of their gifts.  This person has achieved one of their goals and is showing off their accomplishments.  This card represents an achievement, joy, happiness (mainly on a spiritual level, as Cups deal with emotions) – basically getting what you want.  In that sense, this person is a little smug with his rewards.

A different interpretation, I see this as a person guarding their emotions or being protective of their feelings.  He is sitting in front of the cups and appears to have a forced smile.  This may lead others to believe that he’s happy, when he’s not.

So when you see this card in a reading, it means that you’ve been given lots of gifts and you should be celebrating what you have.  Or you need to allow yourself to express your emotions more freely.

Reversed: With the 9 of Cups reversed, I see a person blocked – spiritually.  The Cups have been turned upside down, and everything is falling out.  This person may be so lost in their emotions, that they are unable to focus on day-to-day things.  There’s a sense of sadness.

I also see a person that isn’t getting what they wanted.  They aren’t getting the things they wish for… so in return, this person is throwing a fit.

When you see the 9 of Cups reversed, realize that things may not be turning out the way that you wanted them to be.  Things happen for a reason, and often, that is to lead us down greater paths.

Daily Tarot Card: Major Arcana – 06 – The Lovers

Today’s drawing brings us The Lovers card.

A beautiful card, representing a union.  I see it as a representation of joy, happiness, and completion.  In fact, you know that line from the movie, Jerry Maguire – “You complete me”?  As cheesy as it sounds, that’s what I think of when I see this card.  Of course, The Lovers card doesn’t necessarily mean the union of two people.  This can also be interpreted as the uniting of the Yin and the Yang…

All of the elements are represented in this card.  Love, representing water or emotions.  Fire represents passion.  Earth represents being grounded, down-to-Earth.  And air – thoughts and ideas.  This card is about joining forces to create something greater.

I see this card as making a declaration – everything beneath the Sun, to the Universe.  “This is who I am, this is what (or who) I love, and this is what I want to do.”   In other words, this is about making commitments and taking responsibility for your actions and choices.

You’ve achieved a goal.  You’ve plowed through obstacles and climbed to the top of the mountain.  The clouds represent being given a message – for your declaration, honesty, and accomplishments -  you’ve been given gifts.  Fruit from labor and hard work, as well as sparks of creativity.  Use it wisely!

Reversed: With The Lovers reversed, I see infidelity.  Unable to keep your commitments, whether that be in relationships or in promises to do things.  I also see a delusion, living in a fantasy world with somebody else.  The inability and failure to combine something or collaborate.

When you see The Lovers reversed, think about the commitments you didn’t keep.  How can you make up for it? r what can you do to learn from this situation?

Daily Tarot Card: Page of Pentacles

September 3rd, 2009 by taurusrising.net received 2 Comments »

Today’s drawing brings us the Page of Pentacles.

Like the other Pages in the deck, Pages often represent a younger person – a child, or a person with youthful energy.  I also see the Page of Pentacles representing your inner child – follow your dreams, do what you enjoy, and you will be happy.  Another interpretation is that the Page of Pentacles represents a person realizing what they aspire to have – knowledge, finances, material possessions.

In the Universal Waite deck, the Page of Pentacles walks across a field of flowers.  Flowers represent joy and happiness.  In the background, we see trees and mountains.  I like to interpret the trees as “trees of wisdom”.  The mountains are obstacles, something necessary to conquer to reach our goals.  There is also a plowed field in the background.  This is a place to plant seeds – plant ideas.  Take care of them, nourish, and love.  As long as you do this, you will receive the fruits of your labor.  Altogether, the background represents that the foundation for your dreams – they are all around you.  All that you have to do is embrace what you are given and use these gifts to fulfill your hopes and dreams.

This is a very positive card – very encouraging.  It is a great card to see in a reading, especially if you have a business-related idea/goal, or new interest.  This card is telling you to plan, build your foundation, create a blueprint.  Use these guides and you will be pleased with the results!

Reversed: With the Page of Pentacles reversed, we see the Pentacle falling from the Page’s hand – he is now lost.  The wilderness surrounds him and now he is alone.  What he was working towards, is now gone.  I see this as a person that has lost interest in something that used to drive them

A few weeks ago, I read an interpretation of this that I liked.  Basically it stated the Pages as “problem children”.  People that are unwilling to accept the advice and guidance of others.  Instead of embracing the knowledge from others.  They have no guidance, therefore losing the path towards their aspirations.

When you see the Page of Pentacles reversed, think about what you are/were trying to accomplish.  How did you lose your path?  If you want to get there, what steps can you take to build a stronger foundation?

I was excited to draw this card today.  Yesterday’s daily card was the Ten of Pentacles.  I see this card as an affirmation that the things I am working towards, will make me happiest.  I need to accept the guidance from others and add their knowledge to my blueprints.  It may take a lot of work, but as long as I keep up with it, I will achieve my goals.

The Void-of-Course Moon

When I began studying astrology, I’d often see the term “void-of-course” referring to the moon.  I always thought that this was funny, because I imagined somebody saying, “The moon is void, of course.  Duh!”  I know that’s silly, but it still gives me the giggles!

So, what does it mean when the moon is void-of-course?

This is when the moon makes its last aspect in the current sign.  It is making a transition into the next sign.  This phase can last from minutes to a couple of days.  For example, today the moon is void-of-course in the sign of Aquarius.  It’s transitioning to the next sign, Pisces.  When the moon enters Pisces, that is when the void-of-course period ends.

Many people advise that you should a few things when the moon is void-of-course.  Don’t make any important decisions,  invest in anything, and don’t start any projects!  A lot of astrologers say that these efforts will be wasted and often, these things have to be repeated.  If you want things done right the first time, don’t do it when the moon is void-of-course!

Often, this is when we feel some sort of detachment from reality.  We may be there in physical form, but mentally our minds are somewhere else.  Luckily, this is the optimal time for bumming around the house in your jammies.  This is a great time to relax, clean, read a book, and get in touch with your spiritual side.  Meditation is a wonderful example of tapping into the void-of-course moon.

Daily Tarot Card: 10 of Pentacles

September 2nd, 2009 by taurusrising.net received No Comments »

Today’s drawing brings us the 10 of Pentacles.

When I look at the Ten of Pentacles, I see a person surrounded by the riches of life.  This person is living a very charmed life, something that they may or may not realize.

In the Universal Waite deck, the image of the Ten of Pentacles depicts a man wearing a cloak full of symbols.  He is an older man, so I see him as a person that has a lot of life experience.  Through his life experiences, this person has obtained a wealth of knowledge.  He’s learned what works for him, and through his mistakes, he’s learned what doesn’t.

This man seems to be inside a castle or a home, a comfort zone.  Adorning the walls are banners showcasing a few different things.  One of the banners is of another castle.  Castles are symbolic for goals and material riches.  Another poster displays ships.  Ships are symbolic for journeys and adventures in other lands.

He is sitting with some dogs and is around other people.  I see this as being surrounded by loyalty and those that truly care and support him.

Reversed: With the Ten of Pentacles reversed,  I see a person that is stuck in problem after problem.  This person may be bright and intelligent, but doesn’t use their knowledge to the fullest.  This person may also have financial problems and problems with their family relationships or support system. It could also mean that the person was surrounded by wealth, but for some reason lost it, gambling everything away or taking it for granted – until it could finally take no more.

If you see the Ten of Pentacles reversed in a drawing, it means that you have experienced a loss.  You can rectify the situation by keep on keepin’ on.  In other words, keep working towards your goals.  If you’re having problems with your family, understand the situation and see what solutions you can take to solve the issue.  If you’re having problems with your support group (for instance), you may need to pick out the weeds and surround yourself with positive, uplifting people.

I drew the Ten of Pentacles a few days ago and then again in a three card spread.

I’ve been going through a transitional phase in my life that has been rough at some points.  However, I found this card to be a reminder of the wealth of knowledge that I’ve obtained in the last few months.  This also reminds me that I have a wonderful support system.  I’m surrounded by loyal people, wonderful family, and a network of supportive friends.
