Today’s drawing brings us the Ace of Swords.

When I see the Ace of Swords, I see a gift of mental capacities. I see this as a form of clarity and vision. In the Waite deck, the image is of a sword cutting through a crown. This image makes me think of mentally cutting through obstacles and distractions. As an Ace, this card is the raw gift of new beginnings, new opportunities, and new ideas. I also see the Ace of Swords giving an opportunity in the form of higher education or a new job. The Swords suit is associated with Air, so whenever I see the Swords. I think of communication or something mentally stimulating.

Reversed: With the Ace of Swords reversed, I see a person that is blocking their new opportunities for growth. Perhaps a person that is afraid of change, afraid to move forward. The sword is stuck in the stone and it’s not going anywhere. There is a lot of mental confusion. There may also be obstacles that are blocking you from realizing your gifts. I also see some form of death when I look at this card, due to the sword stabbing through the crown.
