Hello, loyal readers!

I’m back! It’s been three months since my last post. I can’t believe that it’s been that long. Also, I cannot believe that we’re in a new year – 2010!

Looking back, 2009 was a great year!

I “rediscovered” my interest in astrology. I picked up my first deck of Tarot cards. For a while, I was also in the habit of meditating daily. I began doing dream interpretations for others. It was a wonderful year for getting in touch with my spiritual side.

I made a lot of amazing friends through Twitter – something that I didn’t expect. I have learned masses and masses of information through these talented souls. If I hadn’t networked with them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. And for that - I am very grateful for crossing paths!

As for Taurus Rising, we’re cruising into 2010 with a new layout! I did a few CSS and widget customizations, so there may be some bugs lingering around. If you spot any glitches on the site – please contact me or send me a tweet on Twitter. (Note: I haven’t tested the site out on IE or Safari, so I expect that there will be some issues in those areas.)

I anticipate 2010 to be an even better year!

We are going through a Mercury and Mars retrograde. I thought about holding off on “re-opening” Taurus Rising, but then I thought, this blog has always been a work-in-progress. I’m not starting a new project. The most important things to remember while being in a Mercury retrogrades is to be patient and expect delays. I anticipate this and will do my best to work with what I’m given.

As for the Mars retrograde in Leo… what can we expect? When a planet is retrograde, usually this means that the energies of the planet are more introspective. Mars is the planet that symbolizes war, aggression, and what drives us. The sign Leo is a very creative, authoritive, and a little arrogant. What could this mean? Putting this information together, I see inner aggression, frustration, and perhaps anger due to dissatisfaction with ego trips. What I mean by that is – setting high expectations for ourselves, and falling short. There is also the need to channel those aggressive energies into positive outlets.

How do you interpret Mars retrograde?

For Taurus Rising, I believe that means to write, write, write. Previously, I set some very high expectations for myself – that was very difficult for me to meet. At least, during that time.

Right now, I have Saturn in Libra transiting through my 6th house. The house of work and the daily grunt stuff (health, also). Libra likes to balance things. I hope that this will help me build a better foundation for my career aspirations and the Taurus Rising blog. I also hope that it will assist me with balancing work with my personal life.

Taurus Rising will be one of my biggest projects for the year. Although I know that it may be a lot of work, I embrace the opportunity.

Mercury Retrograde - it can do some nasty things!

Mercury Retrograde. Oh yes. It’s here and it’s going to be here until September 29, 2009. Can you feel it? I’ve heard so many people grumbling and mumbling about the Mercury Retrograde. It’s the time when we expect things to break, things to fail, or delays in general. But, I mean, we were all expecting him to show up unexpectedly for dinner, right?

Of course, I’m probably testing Mr. Mercury just by writing this post. This week, so many things have gone wrong or “unexpected” – that I can’t help but laugh to myself. Electronic things going haywire? Mental fogginess? Yes, these are a few influences during a Mercury Retrograde. Also with this retrograde being in Libra, a few people from my past have came by to grace me with their presence. Not necessarily bad things – just time to revisit old relationships and if needed, work on their “unfinished business”.

So far with this Mercury Retrograde…

My DH’s job “lost” his paycheck.
Forgot to pay rent for this month. This is crazy because I’m pretty insane when it comes to paying bills.
My camera stopped working. I went somewhere and wanted to snap some photos, but my camera stopped working. It’s a digital camera and the display wasn’t showing anything. After I left this place, I decided to fiddle around with the camera but alas, it was mysteriously working again.
Message board woes! I posted on a message board by e-mail, however when it posted- it was showing up as post from a text message… from somebody else! The funny part was that this person didn’t even have a cell phone. I had to change some settings on my profile, then it was posting like normal. It was probably some silly error on my part, but funny nonetheless.
This guy from my past reappeared right after Mercury went retrograde. Mainly, he wanted to tell me that his wife had left him and he wished he pursued me instead of her… errr, what?
Another guy that I hadn’t talked to in a while… he messaged me to just “say hi”, but I knew that it was more than that. How often do you get people that haven’t talked to you in years or months, messaging you to just say hi? Ahh, I don’t that often… but it turns out that he was having problems with his woman and needed advice.
On another Libra/relationship note, there was some family drama. It really upset me, but I was able to calm down my Scorpio stellium (including my wonderful, Mars in Scorpio). Around this time, you really have to realize that this retrograde may influence some more than others. This means that people will blurt out things- sometimes hurtful- (clouded Mercury communication!) without thinking.
Cell phone problems. The signal has been on and off.
My Internet connection has been flaky, as well.

Of course, these things could happen any other during the year… they just happen to fall on the Mercury Retrograde. So, whenever something happens, I can’t help but laugh.

Mercury Retrograde is also great for creativity!

On the positive side, this is what the Mercury Retrograde has helped me with…

It’s given me time to reflect on things. I’ve been able to slow down and take a look around at everything going on. It’s helping me understand what’s working and what isn’t working for me.
I’ve had time to do some cleaning – and not just house cleaning (if you follow my Twitter account, you know what I mean!), but thinking about the people that I surround myself with. Along with the reflection, I’ve felt the need for a “spiritual cleansing”. This has helped me weed out negative people/influences in my life. This is something that I’ve needed to do for a while.
I’ve also felt a wonderful wave of creativity. Although I have slowed down on some things, I feel like my creativity is in high gear. I love it!

Transits, the Sun and Moon in Leo, and Mercury Rx – Fall 2009

I’ve returned from vacation and just in time to crawl into the shadow of next month’s Mercury retrograde! Before we get into that, let’s talk about transits, the Sun, and the Moon.

Last night, I was talking to my friend from the 8th House Spark Breaker. I was telling her about a rough period I had a few months ago and then suddenly said, “I wonder what was going on in the sky during that time.” So, I pulled up my chart on astro.com and went to check out the sky during that time period. I was astonished to see how much was going on during that time (including a Mercury retrograde!).

I’m a newbie to astrology, so my friend explained a lot of the things that I didn’t understand. For instance, one of my transits was Chiron (“the wounded healer”) and my natal Mercury (communication) in the 10th house (public image). At the time, I was dealing with some real internal problems. I was in a situation that had me feeling really shameful. Communication in this area was pretty bad. I ended up shutting out a lot of friends from my life to “save face”.

Seeing what was going on in the sky with relation to that period in my life was pretty interesting to see. If you’re curious about what was in the sky during a specific time, you can get a free transit chart by visiting astro.com. Once you have your natal chart, visit the section of “My Astro” called “Extended Chart Selection”. After that, the chart that you want to select is “natal chart and transits *”. Very cool!

Speaking on transits, as I write this post the Sun (ego) and Moon (emotions) are in the mighty sign of Leo. This is double the Leo power! Right now, the Sun and Moon are transiting my natal 4th house (home and sense of security). However, what does the heck does that mean? We think of the sign Leo – the sign of creativity, warmth, hospitality, a fiery and bold attitude! (and on the flip-side, showoff-ish, and dominant). I’ve been trying to figure out all evening how this transit affects me, until I realized, I really did have a productive day. I got a lot of paperwork done, filled out some things for some job training, looked through finances… and I’ve always thought of the 4th house as more of a “homely” type of house, but I forgot that it also dealt with a sense of security. All of these things affect having a sense of security – financially stable, having a steady job, etc. In other words, I was very actively pursing these things.

Now, let’s talk move onto something more fun. Yesterday, August 18, 2009 – we entered the shadow period of the Mercury retrograde. Now, the Mercury retrograde won’t occur until September 7, 2009. It will be with us for almost the entire month of September, when it ends on September 29, 2009. Even though it’s still weeks away, in the “shadow period”, it’s when we begin to feel the effects of the storm. For most, the Mercury retrograde means, technical problems (computers in chaos- hard drives crashing), car and travel problems/delays… basically, this is usually a time for delays, frustration, and not a good time to sign contracts unless you really really read the fine print. However, it gives us time to stop (while trying not to go crazy), look around, and reevaluate what’s going on in our life.

As the construction signs say on the Pennsylvania turnpike, “Expect Delays”.
